The Vashon Island Pirates's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their 11th straight loss. They fell just short of East Jefferson [Port Townsend/Chimacum] by a score of 74-72. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (67), Vashon Island still had to take the loss.
Leading East Jefferson [Port Townsend/Chimacum] to victory were Keidan Guzman and Stuart Dow. Guzman dropped a double-double on 14 points and 13 rebounds, while Dow dropped a double-double on 23 points and 15 rebounds. Dow is crushing the block category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Brody Moore, who scored 11 points along with five assists.
Vashon Island dropped their record down to 2-17 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.3 points per game. As for East Jefferson [Port Townsend/Chimacum], they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-9 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Vashon Island will challenge Seattle Christian at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for East Jefferson [Port Townsend/Chimacum], they will head out on the road to square off against Annie Wright at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Annie Wright will roll in looking for their 12th straight victory, something East Jefferson [Port Townsend/Chimacum] surely won't give up without a fight.
