Willits made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Credo, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Wolverines blew past the Gryphon 23-8 on Friday. The Wolverines' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Lisa Arkelian was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and five unearned) runs off five hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. The win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 3-5. As for Credo, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 3-9.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Willits will head out to challenge Tomales at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Braves have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.2 runs per game on average), something the Wolverines will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Credo, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Calistoga at 4:00 p.m. on the 14th.
