Citrus Belt recap September 17, 2013
Tanner Ward and Brandon Scott provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Vista Murrieta. The connection was good for 70 yards, the longest such play in Citrus Belt this season.
Eisenhower was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from third to first in the league. Earlier in the week, the Eagles triumphed over Colton 51-24.
Scott was the best wideout in the league this week as Yucaipa fell to the Broncos. Scott racked up 6 receptions for 153 yards. Erik Abrams helped Yucaipa's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 30 yards.
Zack Lindsey was the most successful running back in Citrus Belt this week. He ran for 123 yards on 17 carries as Redlands fell to Vista Murrieta. Teammate Cardell Parmer added to the ground attack by rushing for 39 yards.
Mark Neilssien put up the best numbers through the air as Redlands East Valley fell to St. Bonaventure. He finished with 13 completions for 155 yards and 2 touchdowns. Neilssien's favorite target this week was Malik Lovette, who caught 6 passes for 76 yards.
Ward provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Yucaipa fell to Coley Candaele's team. He completed 4 passes for 150 yards and also ran for 63 yards.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Justin Price's team's Billy Gustason III and Abrams have proven to be a lethal combination. 6-3 quarterback Gustason III has thrown for 445 yards this season, while Abrams has 15 catches for 219 yards. The Terriers' Lindsey leads the league in rushing yards with 229.
Cajon moved up to 213 from 266 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Cowboys were able to make move up by besting Kaiser 21-15.
