The Leroy Greene Academy Lions pushed their score all the way to 57 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a hard 72-57 fall against Elite. While losing is never fun, Leroy Greene Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 991st, while Elite is ranked 424th).
Elite's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Lemack Bellot led the charge by scoring 19 points. Bellot continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Maisen McCleod, who scored 17 points.
Leroy Greene Academy has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which lines up perfectly with their 4-12 record this season. As for Elite, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Leroy Greene Academy will challenge Westlake Charter at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. That game will pit two of the most dominant players against one another: Brian Ash and Cobee Wesley. Elite on the road again on Thursday and play against John Adams Academy at 7:00 p.m. on January 25th.
