Basketball Game Preview: Arvada Bulldogs vs. The Pinnacle Timberwolves

The Arvada Bulldogs are taking a road trip to square off against The Pinnacle Timberwolves at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Arvada will be strutting in after a win while The Pinnacle will be coming in after a loss.

Arvada is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Lake County: they outscored them in every quarter. Arvada strolled past Lake County with points to spare on Monday, taking the game 37-18. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bulldogs.

Lily Heck was the offensive standout of the contest as she dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Carmen Medina, who posted four points in addition to eight boards and five steals.

Arvada smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in five consecutive games.

Meanwhile, The Pinnacle played a tough match on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by Valley and fell 62-7. The Timberwolves were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 44-2.

Arvada pushed their record up to 6-6 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 16.5 points per game. As for The Pinnacle, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season.

Everything came up roses for Arvada against The Pinnacle when the teams last played back in January of 2024, as the squad secured a 47-11 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Arvada since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
