The Cane Bay Cobras waltzed into their game Wednesday with three straight wins but they left with four. They rang in the new year with a 52-45 victory over Timberland. Given Cane Bay's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 80th, while Timberland is ranked 290th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Cane Bay found their leader in underclassman Jahleel Sanders, who scored ten points along with five rebounds. Jarvis Roper was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Cane Bay has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 11-6 record this season. As for Timberland, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-11.
Cane Bay will look to defend their home court on Friday against Wando at 7:30 p.m. Wando will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak. Timberland's road trip will continue as they head out to face Academic Magnet at 8:00 p.m. on January 5th. Academic Magnet is on a five-game streak of home losses, Timberland an eight-game streak of away losses (dating back to last season), but someone's luck is about to change.
