Elk County Catholic's Jonathan Dippold rumbled for the longest rushing play in Allegheny Mountain - Southern this season in his game against Ridgway/Johnsonburg last week. Dippold ran for 56 yards on the play and finished with 84 on the day as his team lost to Ridgway/Johnsonburg.
Adding to the longest winning streak in the league this week, Kane beat Brockway 35-31,. The victory was the fourth in a row for the Wolves.
Kane's dynamic duo of Kevin Cleer and Andrew Pierson proved to be unstoppable against the Rovers, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Cleer threw for 201 yards and 2 touchdowns and Pierson had 92 yards receiving. Jeff Kocjancic helped Kane's passing attack out by catching 6 balls for 59 yards.
Todd Silfies' team's dynamic duo of Cleer and Pierson proved tough for Brockway to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
He went 15-20 with 0 interception.
Pierson was the best receiver in the league this week as the Wolves topped Frank Zocco's team.
Kyle Schatz made the biggest impact on defense this week as Elk County Catholic lost to Ridgway/Johnsonburg. The 6-foot-1 sophomore racked up 2.0 sacks.
Zach Tibbens was the most successful running back in Allegheny Mountain - Southern this week. In 32 carries, he ran for 216 yards as Curwensville topped the Rovers. Teammate Trey McKenzie added to the ground attack by rushing for 69 yards.
Cleer put up the best numbers through the air as the Wolves bested Brockway.
Tibbens was a beast in the backfield as the Golden Tide bested St. Joseph's Catholic Academy.
The Rovers' Alec Shaffer-Doan and Anthony Isabella have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Shaffer-Doan has thrown for 939 yards this season, while Isabella has 26 catches for 402 yards. Curwensville's Tibbens leads the league in rushing yards with 766.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Kane takes on second place Curwensville. Kane bested Brockway last week, while Andy Evanko's team defeated the Wolves.
There should be lots of points scored when the Wolves and the Golden Tide face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, Kane comes in having scored 158 this season, while Curwensville has scored 122. The Wolves scored 35 points last week as they beat the Rovers.
Ridgway/Johnsonburg moved up to 482 from 518 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. Ridgway/Johnsonburg was able to move up by defeating Tony Gerg's team 28-8.
