Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Clearwater Central Catholic Marauders, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They were dealt a 56-0 loss at the hands of the Lions on Thursday. Clearwater Central Catholic's loss signaled the end of their 13-game winning streak.
Jershaun Newton threw for 158 yards on 13 of 23 attempts.
Shamar Rigby was his top target, picking up 79 receiving yards. On the ground,
Justin Stephens rushed for 57 yards.
It was another big night for Cedrick Bailey, who threw for 353 yards and four touchdowns while completing 73.1% of his passes, and also caught a touchdown for Chaminade-Madonna. Bailey hasn't dropped below three passing touchdowns for six straight games. Chaminade-Madonna also got help from Jeremiah Smith who showed off his sure hands for 183 receiving yards.
Clearwater Central Catholic's loss ended a ten-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 13-1. As for Chaminade-Madonna, they pushed their record up to 14-0 with that victory, which was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season.
Clearwater Central Catholic does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Chaminade-Madonna also has no future games currently scheduled.
