The Roosevelt Eagles lost against the Coahoma Bulldogs back in October of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The matchup between the two teams wasn't particularly close, with Roosevelt falling 41-22. They were down 34-14 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Roosevelt's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Nate Casarez, who rushed for 110 yards and a touchdown. Logan Bartlett also helped out as he racked up 109 rushing yards.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Coahoma to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jaidyn Vineyard, who rushed for 204 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.9 yards per carry. Vineyard really tore up the turf during one magnificent 73-yard run. Billy Bailey also helped out with an impressive 123 receiving yards.
This is the second loss in a row for Roosevelt and nudges their season record down to 6-3. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 11.0 points per game. As for Coahoma, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Roosevelt will be playing at home against Littlefield at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Coahoma, they will head out on the road to face off against Abernathy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Texas (Abernathy is ranked 757th, while Coahoma is ranked 742nd).
