The Mastery Warrior will head out on the road to square off against the Palmyra Panthers at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Mastery's last matchup with Medford Tech could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's matchup on Tuesday. The Warrior came up short against the Jaguars, falling 22-16. Even though they lost, the Warrior's still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 7.6 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).
Ricardo Basilio led a balanced group of hitters, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Raul Basilio, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Palmyra was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 11th straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 14-1 to Doane Academy. Having soared to a lofty 16 runs in the game before, the Panthers couldn't push the score so high this time.
Palmyra saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Andrew Timlin, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Mastery now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Palmyra, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-8.
Palmyra's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Mastery hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .327. It's a different story for Palmyra, though, as they've only averaged .216. Will they be able to contain Mastery's hitters?
Mastery couldn't quite finish off Palmyra when the teams last played back in April of 2025 and fell 11-9. Can the Warrior avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
