Two dominant players in Cheznie Roundy and Addy Scrivner are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Payson Lions and the Lehi Pioneers will face off at 7:00 p.m. on December 12th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
Last Saturday, it was a hard-fought game, but Payson had to settle for a 44-42 loss against Mountain Ridge. Payson has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Meanwhile, Lehi is ranked highly in their home state, and on Saturday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of Rigby. The match between the pair wasn't particularly close, with Lehi falling 61-44.
Scrivner put forth a good effort for the losing side as she scored 18 points along with five steals. The matchup was Scrivner's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Ellie Hill was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Payson has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-4 record this season. As for Lehi, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2.
Payson lost to Lehi on the road by a decisive 57-38 margin when the teams last played back in December of 2022. Can Payson avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
