Adding to the longest winning streak in III Section VII this week, Desert Edge beat Youngker 54-0. This was the team's sixth consecutive win.
The Roughriders fell to Desert Edge 54-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Raheem Dowdell made the biggest impact on defense this week as Rich Wellbrock's team beat Youngker. The 5-foot-11 senior recorded 1 fumble and racked up 2 sacks.
Anthony Hernandez threw for 208 yards and 4 touchdowns. He was 9-16 with 2 interceptions.
Hernandez put up the best numbers through the air as the Scorpions defeated Mat York's team. Hernandez's favorite target this week was Elijah Marks, who caught 6 passes for 170 yards.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Desert Edge's Hernandez and Marks have proven to be a lethal combination. 5-8 quarterback Hernandez has thrown for 2,055 yards this season, while Marks has 52 catches for 1,175 yards. Chris Salsberry from Shadow Ridge leads the league in rushing with 1,115 yards.
As it stands, the Stallions are in second, while Agua Fria is in fourth.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Verrado takes on the Scorpions. The Vipers have allowed 117 points this season, while Desert Edge has given up 111. Verrado allowed 26 points last week as it lost to the Owls.
Agua Fria and Derek Wahlstrom's team played the closest game in the league this week, with Agua Fria eventually emerging with a 26-24 victory. Steven Medrano threw for 228 yards and 2 touchdowns during the win.
