High school basketball rankings: Milton tops Preseason Georgia MaxPreps Top 25

Top-ranked Eagles seek second consecutive 7A state title and fourth overall.

The 2021-22 high school basketball season in Georgia tips off this week and MaxPreps has your look at the state's top teams. Coming off a 28-3 campaign last winter, Milton owns the No. 1 spot in our preseason rankings.

The Eagles finished the year ranked No. 7 in the nation after capturing their third Class AAAAAAA state title and earning their first ever GEICO Nationals bid. Milton debuted at No. 2 in the national rankings behind first team MaxPreps Junior All-American Bruce Thornton and second team MaxPreps Sophomore All-American Kanaan Carlyle.

Additional defending state champions include Wheeler (6A), Eagle's Landing (5A), Baldwin (4A), Cross Creek (3A), Pace Academy (2A), Mt. Pisgah (A Private) and Towns County (A Public). Four of those schools appear in the Preseason MaxPreps Top 25.
