Given Christ the Cornerstone Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 279th, while the Royals are ranked 590th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Christ the Cornerstone Academy to victory were DOMINIC GAGNON and MAC HUNT. GAGNON scored 19 points, while HUNT scored 22 points along with five rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points HUNT has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of WILL JACKSON, who scored ten points along with five rebounds.
Riverside Christian Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Geo Young, who scored ten points. Another player making a difference was Khalil Willis, who scored eight points.
Christ the Cornerstone Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. As for Riverside Christian Academy, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-9.
Christ the Cornerstone Academy won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Knights at 6:00 p.m. on February 6th. Hopefully Liberty Christian Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Monday. As for Riverside Christian Academy, they will head out on the road to take on the Crusaders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
