Even though the Atkinson County Rebels scored an imposing 55 points on Saturday, the Clinch County Panthers still came out on top. Clinch County sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 58-55 win over the Rebels. That's another feather in the cap for Clinch County, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Despite the loss, Atkinson County still got an impressive performance from Savanna Williams, who scored 20 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Williams has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Ja'Kari Northcutt, who scored 11 points.
Clinch County has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. As for Atkinson County, their loss ended a ten-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-7.
Clinch County will take on the Titans at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Turner County will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 302nd, while the Panthers are ranked 128th). As for Atkinson County, they and the Indians will face off at 6:00 p.m. on February 6th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Charlton County has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
