The Patriot Pioneers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their sixth straight loss. They fell just short of Battlefield by a score of 39-37. Patriot was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Battlefield apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
When it comes to explaining why Patriot lost, one person who can't be blamed is Ella Negron. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 rebounds. Negron scored a full 56.8% of Patriot's points, the eighth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Grace Honkus was another key contributor, scoring four points along with five steals.
Patriot has fallen quite a ways from their 17-8 record last season and are now at 4-8. As for Battlefield, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.
