The Coronado Thunderbirds waltzed into Thursday's game with two straight wins but they left with three. They took their matchup at home with ease, bagging a 52-7 victory over Socorro. Given Coronado's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 419th, while Socorro is ranked 947th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Coronado had a senior duo take command as Thomas Murray rushed for 105 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 carries and Blake Randag threw for 82 yards and three touchdowns.
Coronado's win bumped their record up to 5-5. As for Socorro, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-10.
Coronado will head out on the road to face off against Montwood at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Socorro, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Americas at 7:30 p.m. on November 3rd. Americas is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road.
