Winning is just a little bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 16 to 5 on the offensive boards, a fact the Shelbyville Golden Bears proved on Saturday. They snuck past Franklin County with a 40-36 win. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Shelbyville also won the last time the pair played back in November of 2022.
Shelbyville's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ella Johnson, who scored 8 points along with 17 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Ava Wilson, who scored 11 points along with 6 rebounds.
Nicole Mears and Ruby Singer certainly did their best on Saturday to try and avoid the loss. Mears scored 23 points along with 9 rebounds and 4 blocks, while Singer scored 8 points along with 8 rebounds and 3 steals. The game was Mears' third in a row with at least ten points.
The win makes it two in a row for Shelbyville and bumps their season record up to 5-1. As for Franklin County, they bumped their record down to 4-2 with that loss, which was their third straight at home.
Shelbyville and Pendleton Heights will face off at 1:30 p.m. on November 25th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Pendleton Heights will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak. As for Franklin County, they will head out on the road to face off against Lawrenceburg at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Lawrenceburg focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Friday.
