Inter-County - Gold recap Sept. 26, 2012
Casey Gray of Bellwood-Antis ran for the longest rushing play in Inter-County - Gold this season against Juniata Valley last week. Gray scampered for 61 yards on the play and finished with 236 on the day as his team topped the Hornets.
Northern Bedford County extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Claysburg-Kimmel, 28-7. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.
Bellwood-Antis' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Seth Worthing threw for 109 and two touchdowns and Gray had 46 yards receiving. Cameron Worthing helped Bellwood-Antis' passing attack out by catching two balls for 43 yards.
Northern Bedford County's Blake Over and Tayler Pressel have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Over has thrown for 637 yards this season, while Pressel, a 6-foot-4 receiver, has 12 catches for 258 yards. West Branch's Chad Speigle leads the league in rushing yards with 740.
A big matchup in Inter-County - Gold this week will be when John Hayes's team takes on Mt. Union. At the moment, the Blue Devils are in second, while the Trojans are in fourth.
The Warriors moved up to 414 from 466 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. West Branch climbed the ranks as a result of a 34-26 win over Glendale.
