Baseball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Franklin

While Franklin put up plenty of runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Racine Park. The Sabers blew past the Panthers 32-0. With that win, the Sabers brought their scoring average up to 11.2 runs per game.

Ben Hefter and Brody Charles made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Hefter tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Charles pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. At bat, Hefter got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs, while Charles got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two runs.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Colin O'Brien, who got on base in five of his six plate appearances with one home run, six RBI, and four runs. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Cameron O'Brien, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs and three RBI.

Franklin always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .731. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory was the fourth in a row for Franklin, bringing their record up to 4-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.0 runs over those games. As for Racine Park, they dropped their record down to 0-8 with the defeat, which was their 18th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Franklin will venture away from home to square off against Burlington at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Racine Park, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Racine Case at 4:30 p.m. on the 29th. The Panthers are facing the Eagles at the right time seeing as the Eagles are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
