Baseball Recap: Coosa Valley Academy's Luck Changes for the Better on Thursday

Coosa Valley Academy came into Thursday's contest having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They were the clear victors by a 15-3 margin over the Meadowview Christian Trojans on Thursday. Considering the Rebels have won nine matches by more than ten runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Andrew Weaver and Grayton Willis made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Weaver tossed three innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Willis pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest he's had since back in February. At the plate, Weaver scored three runs while going 2-for-3, while Willis went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. Coosa Valley Academy is 6-1 when Weaver posts two or more runs, but 4-14 otherwise.

In other batting news, Coosa Valley Academy got a massive performance out of Sam Setzer, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI Setzer has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Jake McArthur, who scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Coosa Valley Academy's win bumped their record up to 10-15. As for Meadowview Christian, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-3-1.

Coming up, Coosa Valley Academy will challenge Cornerstone Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Meadowview Christian, they will square off against North River Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. North River Christian has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 15.2 runs per game on average), something Meadowview Christian will no doubt try to take advantage of.
