The Alexandria Trojans were the 55-43 winner over the New Iberia Yellowjackets when they last played one another back in January of 2021, but their luck changed this time around. Alexandria was the victim of a rough 46-26 loss at the hands of New Iberia on Friday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Alexandria has scored all season.
When it comes to explaining why Alexandria lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jaylin Johnson. Despite the final result, he scored nine points. Another player making a difference was Jordan Smith, who scored five points along with four steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Alexandria and nudges their season record down to 7-3. As for New Iberia, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Alexandria won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Southside at 6:30 p.m. on December 16th. New Iberia and St. Martinville will face off at 7:00 p.m. on December 19th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully St. Martinville focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Friday.
