If the Hazen Highlanders were riding high off their 70-23 takedown of the Renton Red Hawks on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Hazen was just a bucket shy of victory on Wednesday and fell 39-38 to Kentridge. Hazen was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Kentridge apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2022.
Despite the loss, Hazen still got an impressive performance from Mia McCarthy, who scored 19 points. India Andrews was another key contributor, scoring 8 points along with 4 steals.
Kentridge can attribute much of their success to Tia Schanbeck, who scored 3 points along with 9 rebounds and 4 steals. Another player making a difference was Jayla Keowla, who scored 8 points along with 3 steals.
Hazen's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Kentridge, their victory bumped their record up to 1-0.
Hazen will head out on the road to face off against Liberty at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Kentridge, they will be playing at home against Kentlake at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
