Dongola lost against Joppa-Maple Grove in their previous head to head last Friday, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 65-54 score last time.
Joppa-Maple Grove's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Maurice Zabala, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 12 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which Zabala has scored at least 25% of Joppa-Maple Grove's points. Caleb Hinman was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with 5 steals.
Dongola's defeat dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Joppa-Maple Grove, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 3-4 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Dongola will take on Egyptian at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Joppa-Maple Grove, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Northside Baptist Christian at 6:00 p.m.
