Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask M.L. King). It was close, but on Mondaythey capped 2024 with a 49-47 win over the Miller Grove Wolverines. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Lions as it put an end to their seven-game losing streak.

Miller Grove's loss came despite strong showings from Kamiya Moore and McKenzie Ward. Moore posted 16 points, while Ward earned ten points and five steals. Miller Grove is 4-1 when Ward posts five or more steals, but 1-3 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Mariah Presley, who put up two points and four steals.

M.L. King's win bumped their record up to 3-12. As for Miller Grove, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-4 record this season.

M.L. King didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 54-24 loss against Tucker on the 31st. As for Miller Grove, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 54-14 defeat against Southwest DeKalb on the 31st.
