Jenna Lloyd made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up five earned (and five unearned) runs off seven hits. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.1 strikeouts per game. She was even better at the plate, scoring four runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in runs.
In other batting news, Alexandra Bingham was a standout: she scored three runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Addyson Haddock was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
Clearfield was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. They are 3-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Box Elder put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Logan 13-6. The result was nothing new for the Bees, who have now won six contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
Like Clearfield, Box Elder also got a great game from a two-way player: Kennadie Blackmer. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up three earned runs off eight hits. Blackmer has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, Lucy Griffin was incredible, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4. Maclee WIllard also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Box Elder pushed their record up to 7-0 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.7 runs over those games. As for Clearfield, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Clearfield hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .361. However, it's not like Box Elder struggles in that department as they've averaged .506. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Clearfield might still be hurting after the 10-0 defeat they got from Box Elder in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can Clearfield avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
