Softball Recap: Ridgefield Picks Up Sixth Consecutive Victory

Ridgefield had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.8 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Tuesday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 4-3 W against the Notre Dame Prep Lancers. This was a revenge game for the Tigers: when they faced off against the Lancers back in April, they had to take a 7-5 loss.

Caitlin McGratty spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on eight hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 15 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Maddie Muncy, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Sonia Gaughran was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Ridgefield pushed their record up to 15-10 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Notre Dame Prep, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-13.

As of now, neither Ridgefield nor the Lancers have any future games scheduled.
