AA District 10 recap Oct. 30, 2012
Christ Presbyterian Academy extended the longest winning streak in AA District 10 this week by beating Pearl-Cohn, 35-25. The win marks 10th in a row for the the Lions.
Christ Presbyterian Academy's dynamic duo of Albert Mitchell and Thomas Richard proved tough for the Firebirds to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Mitchell threw for 256 yards and four touchdowns and Richard had 142 yards receiving. Robert Brown helped Christ Presbyterian Academy's passing attack out by catching three balls for 66 yards.
Deandre Tigg was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 17 carries, he ran for 165 yards as Lipscomb Academy bested Pearl-Cohn. Gabe Glimps also contributed to the rushing game with 120 yards on the ground.
Isiah Upton provided a threat through the air and on the ground as East Literature Magnet topped Whites Creek. He completed 11 passes for 194 yards and one touchdown and also ran for 81 yards. Upton's favorite target this week was Chris Scott, who caught three passes for 88 yards.
The Eagles' Upton and Patrick Smith have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Upton has thrown for 1586 yards this season, while Smith, a 6-foot-1 receiver, has 47 catches for 747 yards. Chase Smith from the Lions leads the league in rushing with 1196 yards.
The Mustangs' Tigg is a mere 42 yards away from breaking the 1,000-rushing-yards mark for the season. In 106 carries Tigg has accumulated 958 yard this year.
Lipscomb Academy made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 4,749 from 5,415. The improvement came about via a 48-14 victory over Stratford last week.
