The Arvada West Wildcats entered their tilt with the Chatfield Chargers with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Arvada West took down Chatfield 71-56 on Wednesday. Given Arvada West's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 40th, while Chatfield is ranked 221st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Arvada West to victory were James Hadzic and Keegen Balistreri. Hadzic scored 13 points along with eight rebounds, while Balistreri scored 16 points along with two steals. Hadzic is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Stremel, who scored ten points.
Chatfield's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tony Rondinelli, who scored 16 points along with five assists. Clayton Childs was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with two steals.
Arvada West is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. As for Chatfield, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-10.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Arvada West's road trip will continue as they head out to face Ralston Valley at 7:30 p.m. on January 12th. Ralston Valley will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive. As for Chatfield, they will head out on the road to square off against Lakewood at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
