The McGavock Raiders scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They snuck past Hunters Lane with a 60-54 win. The victory was some much needed relief for McGavock as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.
Despite the loss, Hunters Lane had strong showings from Michael Small, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds, and Nehemiah Cartwright, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of James Davis, who scored seven points.
McGavock's win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-10. As for Hunters Lane, their defeat was their seventh straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-13.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. McGavock will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Hillsboro at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hillsboro knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past six matchups -- so hopefully McGavock likes a good challenge. After both having extra time off, Hunters Lane and Cane Ridge will shake off the cobwebs and square off against one another at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd. Cane Ridge is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 63.1 points per game.
