Lynchburg-Clay is 10-0 against the Rockets since January of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Monday. The Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs will head out on the road to take on the Fayetteville-Perry Rockets at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Lynchburg-Clay focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight on Thursday.
In what's become a running theme this season, Lynchburg-Clay gave their fans yet another huge win on Thursday. They blew past West Union 64-25 on the road. Given Lynchburg-Clay's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 177th, while the Dragons are ranked 632nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Lynchburg-Clay's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Addison West, who scored 17 points along with three steals. West has been hot recently, having posted 16 or more points the last seven times she's played. Another player making a difference was Macy Etienne, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and five assists.
Meanwhile, after a string of eight wins, Fayetteville-Perry's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They took a serious blow against Cincinnati Country Day, falling 59-28. Fayetteville-Perry was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-14.
Lynchburg-Clay has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. As for Fayetteville-Perry, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-6.
Lynchburg-Clay took their win against the Rockets in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 by a conclusive 58-35. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lynchburg-Clay since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
