Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Jones County Greyhounds, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They took a serious blow against Coffee on Friday, falling 45-14. While losing is never fun, Jones County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 72nd, while Coffee is ranked 12th).
Devin Edmonds threw for 217 yards and two touchdowns. Tyler Stewart was his top target, picking up 111 receiving yards.
Fred Brown was his usual excellent self, rushing for 235 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.1 yards per carry. Brown is absolutely dominating the rushing yard category: he's posted at least 100 every time he's taken the field this season. Maurice Hansley also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Coffee's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB seven times. The heavy lifting was done by Elgie Paulk and Lorenzo Harvey who racked up five sacks between them.
Jones County's loss dropped their record down to 8-4. As for Coffee, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 12-0.
Jones County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Coffee will square off against Cass at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Cass is coming into the match hot, having won their last three games.
