The Webb Schools Gauls will head out on the road to challenge the Western Christian Fighting Lancers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
The Webb Schools scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 88-5 victory over Waverly at home. The victory was just what The Webb Schools needed coming off of a 70-47 defeat in their prior matchup.
Tyler Samson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 20 points along with nine rebounds. He is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Josef Sharifi, who scored eight points along with seven steals and five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Western Christian entered their tilt with Woodcrest Christian with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. Western Christian came out on top against Woodcrest Christian by a score of 68-55 on Friday. Given Western Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 328th, while Woodcrest Christian is ranked 739th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
The Webb Schools' win bumped their record up to 5-8. As for Western Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season.
The Webb Schools was taken down by Western Christian 81-40 when the teams last played back in January of 2023. Can The Webb Schools avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
