The St. Paul Cardinals will head out on the road to face off against the Fayetteville Lions at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Tuesday, St. Paul took a serious blow against Shiner, falling 67-23. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for St. Paul in their matchups with Shiner: they've now lost three in a row.
Meanwhile, Fayetteville's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They were dealt a 61-28 defeat at the hands of Weimar. While losing is never fun, Fayetteville can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 928th, while Weimar is ranked 442nd).
Rylie Dyer was Fayetteville's leading scorer, having posted 11 points. Dyer also led the team in assists with five. Dyer held things down on the boards with seven rebounds.
Falls City's victory bumped their season record to 0-0 while St. Paul's defeat dropped theirs to 1-1.
St. Paul was able to grind out a solid win over Fayetteville in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, winning 29-18. Will St. Paul repeat their success, or does Fayetteville have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
