Connersville hasn't had much luck against Pendleton Heights recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Spartans will welcome the Arabians at 6:00 p.m. Connersville is coming into the match hot, having won their last 11 games.
Connersville proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by ten) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past Lawrenceburg 2-1.
Taylynn Selby spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Connersville's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Jade Green, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one run.
Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Pendleton Heights' offense. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Hamilton Southeastern on Friday. The Arabians have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Morgan Bricker was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. That's the fewest earned runs she has allowed over her last seven games.
Connersville's victory was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-6. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Pendleton Heights, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-10.
Connersville's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's contest. The Spartans have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.9 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Pendleton Heights, though, as they've been averaging an even more impressive 1.3 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Connersville continue to outrun the ball?
Connersville might still be hurting after the 12-2 loss they got from Pendleton Heights in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Will the Spartans have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
