The Elizabeth Bulldogs had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Maywood Academy on Friday and snuck past 64-61. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Several Nighthawks players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Rodrigo Miranda, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 assists. Miranda is on a roll when it comes to assists, as he's now racked up ten or more in the last eight games he's played. Another player making a difference was Edinson Castaneda, who scored 24 points along with five rebounds.
Elizabeth's victory bumped their record up to 4-8. As for Maywood Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-18 record this season.
Elizabeth does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Maywood Academy, they will be playing at home against Stern at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Maywood Academy is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 51.7 points per game this season.
