Yuma Catholic is a perfect 10-0 against Tonopah Valley since March of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Shamrocks will be playing in front of their home fans against the Phoenix at 3:45 p.m. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.
Yuma Catholic is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Valley Christian just ended the team's nine-game winning streak on Monday. They came up short against the Trojans, falling 7-1. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since May 13, 2023, but that streak is no more.

Yuma Catholic saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Erik Topete, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. Topete is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.
Meanwhile, Tonopah Valley came up short against Chino Valley on Monday and fell 6-2.
Connor Hart spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and four unearned) runs on five hits and racked up 11 Ks. Tonopah Valley is 2-1 when Hart posts eight or more strikeouts, but 8-9-1 otherwise.
At the plate, Caleb Procunier was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Tonopah Valley: the team is 5-1 when he posts at least three hits, but 5-9-1 otherwise.
Yuma Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 20-2. As for Tonopah Valley, they dropped their record down to 10-10-1 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Wednesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Yuma Catholic hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .406. However, it's not like Tonopah Valley struggles in that department as they've averaged .368. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Yuma Catholic took their win against Tonopah Valley in their previous matchup back in March by a conclusive 11-1 score. Will the Shamrocks repeat their success, or do the Phoenix have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
