The Duchesne Eagles posted their closest win yet this season on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against North Sevier and snuck past 37-35. Despite the win, that was the fewest points Duchesne has scored all year.
When it comes to explaining why North Sevier lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jacob Johnson. Despite the final result, he scored eight points along with three steals and two blocks. Johnson has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Kade Johnson was another key contributor, scoring six points along with eight rebounds.
The victory was the third in a row for Duchesne, bringing their record for this year to 9-7. As for North Sevier, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost nine of their last ten matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-11 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Duchesne will challenge North Summit at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for North Sevier, they will head out on the road to face off against Kanab at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Kanab knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past six matches -- so hopefully North Sevier likes a good challenge.
