The Innovation Montessori Panthers will be home for the holidays to greet the Apopka Christian Academy Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Innovation Montessori comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
Innovation Montessori managed to keep up with Trinity Christian Academy until halftime on Friday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Innovation Montessori ended up on the wrong side of a rough 56-33 walloping at the hands of Trinity Christian Academy. While losing is never fun, Innovation Montessori can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 783rd, while Trinity Christian Academy is ranked 194th).
Despite their defeat, Innovation Montessori saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Owen Lofiego, who scored seven points along with three steals, was perhaps the best of all. Tariq Imran was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Meanwhile, Apopka Christian Academy couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They took a serious blow against Saints Academy School on December 1st, falling 59-30.
Innovation Montessori's defeat was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-9. As for Apopka Christian Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.
