When it comes to explaining why Four Corners lost, one person who can't be blamed is Karina Cruz. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 11 points and 10 rebounds. Cruz scored a full 32.4% of Four Corners' points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Danielys Pena Ponce was another key contributor, scoring 10 points along with 8 rebounds and 3 steals.
Among those leading the charge was Lorianys Castanon Cruz, who scored 28 points. That makes it two consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Mulberry's points. Another player making a difference was Alana Standifer, who scored 6 points.
This is the second loss in a row for Four Corners and nudges their season record down to 0-2. As for Mulberry, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Four Corners will take on Mater Brighton Lakes Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Allowing an average of 58 points per game, Mater Brighton Lakes Academy has struggled on the defensive end, but that doesn't have to be the case in this match. As for Mulberry, they will play host again and welcome Discovery, where tip off is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Discovery is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
