After losing to the Statesboro Blue Devils the last time they met, the Greenbrier Wolfpack decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Greenbrier walked away with a 55-45 win over Statesboro on Tuesday. The victory was all the more spectacular given Greenbrier's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 170th, while Statesboro is ranked 46th).
Greenbrier's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jackson Jennings, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Nate Garstang, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds.
Despite the loss, Statesboro saw an underclassman step up: Devin Mikell scored eight points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kamron (kam) Mikell, who scored two points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Greenbrier's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-13. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.7 points per game. As for Statesboro, their defeat dropped their record down to 18-4.
Greenbrier has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Coffee at 5:30 p.m. on February 12th. Coffee has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games. Statesboro does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
