Magruder has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against The Wootton Patriots at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, Magruder was able to grind out a solid victory over Rockville, taking the game 28-21. The victory was just what Magruder needed coming off of a 42-19 loss in their prior match.
Marcus Mccritty was the offensive standout of the matchup as he rushed for 143 yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Wootton was fully in charge on Friday, breezing past Watkins Mill 51-14 on the road. With Wootton ahead 23-0 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Wootton can attribute much of their success to Matthew Repie, who threw for 237 yards and four touchdowns, and Jake Kelley, who picked up 147 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Everett Field got in on the action as well, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Wootton's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB five times. Leading the way was D'Angelo Da Silva and his three sacks.
Magruder now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Wootton, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-3.
Magruder came up short against Wootton in their previous meeting back in November of 2022, falling 13-6. Can Magruder avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
