The Pueblo West Cyclones stacked a fifth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Monday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Pueblo Centennial 57-28 on the road. With Pueblo West ahead 32-10 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Pueblo West was led to victory by Makenna McGraw and Trynity Martin. McGraw scored nine points along with six rebounds and four steals, while Martin scored 15 points along with two steals. Martin is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamie Suazo, who scored 12 points along with two steals and two blocks.
When it comes to explaining why Pueblo Centennial lost, one person who can't be blamed is Nina Orta. Despite the final result, she scored 18 points.
Pueblo West has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. As for Pueblo Centennial, their loss dropped their record down to 5-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pueblo West will take on Pueblo South at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Pueblo South has struggled recently with seven defeats in a row, while Pueblo West will arrive with three straight wins. As for Pueblo Centennial, they will head out on the road to square off against Pueblo Central at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Pueblo Central is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home.
