The Yucca Valley Trojans struggled with assists on Thursday (the Clark Chargers had nine more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Yucca Valley took a 56-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of Clark. While losing is never fun, Yucca Valley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 727th in California, while Clark is ranked 24th in Nevada).
Yucca Valley lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jadon Pierce, who scored 23 points along with three steals. The matchup was Pierce's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Daniel Mills, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Clark got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was De'Shaun Tolever out in front who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 15 rebounds. The game was Tolever's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Sir Montgomery, who scored ten points along with five assists.
Yucca Valley now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Clark, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-2.
Yucca Valley and San Pedro will face off at 7:30 p.m. on December 29, 2023 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. San Pedro knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven matches -- so hopefully Yucca Valley likes a good challenge. Clark and Servite will face off at 6:00 p.m. on December 29, 2023 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
