The Riverside Pirates scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They were the clear victor by a 71-49 margin over Hardin Northern. The score was close at the half, but Riverside pulled away in the second half with 37 points.
Riverside's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Avery Perk, who scored 13 points along with nine rebounds and seven steals. Another player making a difference was Aubree Huston, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Hardin Northern's loss came despite strong showings from Emmah Boose and Alaina Thomas. Boose scored 18 points, while Thomas scored 12 points along with eight steals. That was a full 36.7% of Hardin Northern's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Riverside's win bumped their record up to 7-11. As for Hardin Northern, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-15.
Riverside will head out on the road to take on Miami East at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Miami East will be coming into the contest with an undefeated record on the line. As for Hardin Northern, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Crestline at 6:00 p.m. Crestline comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 17 points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
