The Muskego Warriors will take on the Kettle Moraine Lasers at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Muskego's pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so Kettle Moraine's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
The scorekeeper got an easy start on Tuesday as neither Muskego nor Oconomowoc made it on the board until the fifth inning. The Warriors' pitcher stepped up to hand the Raccoons a 6-0 shutout. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by six runs or more this season.
Not much got past Cora Jahimiak, who gave up just three hits to keep Oconomowoc off the board.
On the hitting side, Ava Gumieny was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Ella Gibson was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Kettle Moraine ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They skirted past Arrowhead 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Lasers have posted against the Warhawks since April 24, 2023.
Briella Hack spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on 13 hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Sarah Marcheske, who went 3-for-5 with one home run and five RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Alesandra Hernandez, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Muskego has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Kettle Moraine, they pushed their record up to 8-7 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.
Muskego took their victory against Kettle Moraine in their previous matchup back in April by a conclusive 10-4 score. Will the Warriors repeat their success, or do the Lasers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
