First Baptist Academy hadn't done well against Maryville Christian recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. First Baptist Academy walked away with a 44-37 victory over the Maryville Christian Lions. This was a revenge game for First Baptist Academy: when they faced off against Maryville Christian back in January, they had to take a 66-23 loss.

Several Lions players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Gavin Ambuehl, who went 5-for-9 en route to 15 points and five boards. That's the most points Ambuehl has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Dillon Paul, who earned ten points and three steals.

First Baptist Academy's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 13-15. As for Maryville Christian, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 15 of their last 17 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-21 record this season.

First Baptist Academy will take on Berean Christian in a tournament on Friday. As for Maryville Christian, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 50-29 defeat against Lincolnwood on the 24th.
