After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Washington County, the Leroy Bears were happy to have found some success on Monday. They put the hurt on Excel with a sharp 38-16 win. That's another feather in the cap for Leroy, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Leroy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Chauncey Dixon led the charge by dropping a double-double on 13 points and 13 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Makayla Payne, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and five steals.
Leroy now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Excel, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Leroy won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Southern Choctaw at 6:00 p.m. on December 12th. Southern Choctaw will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak. As for Excel, they will head out on the road to face off against Flomaton at 8:00 p.m. on Friday.
