Basketball Recap: University Skates Past Memphis School of Excellence - Cordova with Ease

There's no place like home for University, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They blew past the Memphis School of Excellence - Cordova Eagles 66-30 on Friday. With that win, the Tigers brought their scoring average up to 50.8 points per game.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead University to victory, but perhaps none more so than Anthony Brewer Jr., who went 7 for 14 on his way to 21 points in addition to seven steals and five assists. With that strong performance, Brewer Jr. is now averaging an impressive 3 steals per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Lexington Griffin, who went 7 for 12 on his way to 19 points in addition to five assists and five boards.

Brewer Jr. wasn't the only one working in the assists department: University was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

The victory got University back to even at 2-2. As for Memphis School of Excellence - Cordova, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-5.

University didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 46-42 defeat against Raleigh-Egypt on the 9th. As for Memphis School of Excellence - Cordova, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Oakhaven at 6:00 p.m. on January 21, 2025.
