Holmes County has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Geneva Panthers at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
Holmes County suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Monday. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 64-44 walloping at the hands of Graceville. Holmes County was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 44-24.
Holmes County's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Savannah Goodman, who scored 17 points, and Emma Whitaker who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Karson McGowan, who scored seven points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Geneva strolled past Andalusia with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 46-27. The win made it back-to-back wins for Geneva.
Holmes County's loss dropped their record down to 9-8. As for Geneva, they pushed their record up to 15-6 with that victory, which was their third straight at home.
Holmes County suffered a grim 67-43 defeat to Geneva in their previous matchup back in January of 2023. Can Holmes County avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
